Steel Erection
The lift of the main reflector structure from its ground assembly position to the top of the alidade structure
occurred on December 19, 2002. One section of the main reflector ribs were removed to allow access for the crane
boom. This section was then lifted into place separately. The weight of the reflector structure was approximately
125 metric tons.
