This modular handbook has been approved by the Deep Space Network (DSN) Project Office and is provided as a source of technical information for all flight projects using the DSN. It provides information on DSN service capabilities, tools that can be used by customers to operate their own mission operations, engineering support services, and customer requirements to use the DSN services, to aid flight projects in understanding and designing for compatibility.

The handbook consists of modules that present technical information applicable to the current DSN configuration and services. These modules are revised individually to reflect new capabilities as those capabilities become approved by DSN System Engineering Office. After the initial release of the handbook, modules will be added, deleted, or updated independently, without the release of the entire handbook.

This handbook is primarily concerned with the ground data and administrative interfaces between flight projects and the DSN. It is principally organized around the DSN Service Catalog and includes references to DSN external software interface specifications.

Telecommunications links between DSN and spacecraft are covered in a companion handbook, DSN Telecommunications Link Design Handbook (810-005).
